The Short Story:  Callie Dieffenbacher's 54^th minute goal lifted VCU to a 2-1 road win in the Rams' A10 opener at La Salle on Friday afternoon

• Dieffenbacher scored the game-winning goal, the first of her collegiate career, and had two shot attempts
• Julia Spohr scored one goal, also the first of her collegiate career, and recorded a team-high five shot attempts
• Hannah Zimmerman recorded the first assist of her collegiate career
• VCU outshot La Salle 18-10 overall in the contest and 9-7 in shots on goal
• The Rams held a 7-4 advantage in penalty corners

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• VCU and La Salle were deadlocked 0-0 at the half but in the 37^th minute Spohr gathered a pass from Mackenize White, beat two defenders and the goalkeeper to give the Rams a 1-0 lead
• La Salle tied the game 1-1 in the 52^nd minute on a goal from Forman
• Dieffenbacher gave VCU the lead for good by answering less than two minutes later after Zimmerman gave her a pass just to the left of goal and beat the keeper
• VCU outshot La Salle 14-3 in the second half to earn the win
