Letizia Galli racked up eight kills and five blocks, but the Rams fell in four to Florida State Saturday at Florida Gulf Coast's Alico Arena.

OPENING VOLLEY
- Galli hit .545 on the day on 11 attempts for the Black and Gold. She also collected four digs
- Three other Rams totaled seven kills to bolster the VCU attack, including senior Nina Boledovicova, who hit .286 on 21 swings and added five blocks, three digs and a service ace
- Junior setter Cansin Sendir handed out 33 assists and was credited with 10 digs for VCU
- Florida State's Delaney Ewing led all players with 14 killsÂ
THE DIFFERENCE
- VCU looked to force a fifth-set tiebreaker when it tied the fourth frame at 22-22 on a kill by freshman outside hitter Dominika Kasinska, but a pair of FSU blocks loomed large as the Seminoles pulled ahead for a 26-24 win. The fourth set featured 12 ties and six lead changes
- The Seminoles pounced in the first set, hitting .410 with just three errors on the way to a 25-19 win. VCU answered with a 25-19 triumph in the second behind a defense that produced four blocks and held the Seminoles to a .000 hitting percentage
- Florida State outhit VCU .228 to .206 and served up 10 acesÂ

VCU will play host to East Tennessee State on Friday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. at the Stuart C. Siegel Center on the opening day of the VCU Invitational. The Rams will also take on Virginia on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 6 p.m.
