VCU baseball paired seven scoreless innings out of the bullpen with 11 unanswered runs to complete its weekend sweep of Army, 11-3. Allowing just three runs in each contest and scoring in the double digits twice, the Rams outscored the Black Nights 26-9 across three games.

LEADING OFF:
- VCU tied yesterday's run total for the third-most this season (11) and reached double-digits for the fifth time
- Elias Holbert earned his first victory as a Ram, tossing three scoreless innings of one-hit ball and setting a new career high with four strikeouts
- Also out of the bullpen, Dawson Newman's only baserunners were due to two fielding errors, going 1.2 innings with no hits, runs, or walks allowed
- Closing the game on the mound, Zach Peters tied his season-high seven strikeouts, notching all seven outs via the strikeout. He gave up just one hit and one walk over his 2.1 innings of work
- Dante DeFranco led the Rams' offense with three hits, while Michael Petite tallied a game-high three runs
- Alec Warden had his second three-RBI game of the weekend series
- VCU returned to .500 on the season with the sweep, moving to 8-8 on the season

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Army outscored VCU 3-0 in the first three innings, using two run-scoring base hits to take a lead and stranding all four of the Rams' early baserunners
- Warden opened the scoring for the Rams, chipping away with an infield single that scored Petite
- VCU broke open the game with back-to-back five run innings in the fifth and sixth
- Taking advantage of four free passes, two base knocks by Jacob Lee and Warden combined with a go-ahead sacrifice fly from Quinn Maher to extend the Rams' lead to 6-3
- Combining for five hits in the next frame, the Rams smacked four of them for extra bases, including a two-run triple off the bat of Petite
- The Rams completed their weekend with a perfect 3-0 record, taking their fourth victory in the last five games
