RICHMOND, Va. - For the second straight season, and for the third time in four years, VCU has earned a share of the Atlantic 10 Conference regular season championship.
The Rams closed their regular season with a 68-62 victory over Dayton Friday night at UD Arena to complete a 15-3 league ledger. VCU will share the crown with Saint Louis, which owns an identical 15-3 conference mark.Â
The Billikens own the head-to-head tiebreaker with the Rams, and will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming A-10 Tournament in Pittsburgh, Pa., which will be held March 11-15 at PPG Paints Arena. VCU will be the tournament's No. 2 seed and will receive a double-bye to the quarterfinal round. The Black and Gold will take on the winner of Thursday's second round contest between seventh-seeded Duquesne and 10th-seeded Rhode Island at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13. That contest will be broadcast nationally on USA Network.Â
The Rams have captured two of the past three A-10 Tournament crowns, including last year's title over George Mason in Washington, D.C.Â
