HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU held a 2-0 lead through four innings, building a pair of RBI from Lethert and Trent Adelman on three scoreless frames from Gotschall on the mound
- Norfolk State used a three-run fifth frame to overtake the Rams, earning its first lead of the game on two singles
- Warden, who scored each of the Rams' first two runs, drove in the 3-3 tying run in the bottom of the fifth, grounding out to advance DeFranco home
- The Spartans scratched two runs across in the top of the eighth and VCU stranded three runners on base in the ninth, falling short of the win, 5-3
