VCU extended its double-digit hit streak to three games, scoring its most runs in a conference game since 2023 to rout Dayton, 17-7, in the first Atlantic 10 competition on the road. The Rams improved to 4-0 to open conference play for the fourth time since joining the A-10 in 2013.

LEADING OFF:
- VCU combined for 10 extra-base hits, led by Jacob Lee and Trent Adelman's three apiece
- Adelman belted his first career triple and a pair of doubles, while setting a career high with five RBI
- Lee had four RBI and a career-best four hits in the contest
- Nick Flores, Lee and Michael Petite each scored three runs
- Petite blasted his team-leading seventh home run of the season, while collecting a pair of hits
- On the mound, Elias Holbert set career bests with 3.2 innings pitched and six strikeouts, picking up his second win as a Ram
- Bryce Carter made a scoreless appearance, tossing the final inning out of the bullpen and allowing just one baserunner
- In the fourth inning, VCU scratched across eight runs, its most in an inning this season
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU trailed 4-2 through three innings, its only two runs coming on Adelman's first RBI double of the day
- The Rams sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth inning, scoring eight runs on six hits, including home runs from Nate Kirkpatrick and Lee and another run-scoring double off the bat of Adelman
- In the bottom of the fifth, the Flyers scratched one run across, but VCU had another loud answer with a five-hit, five-run sixth frame to take a commanding 15-5 lead
- Dayton added two more runs over the final three frames and Lee tallied both of his doubles which resulted in runs for a 17-7 final in Dayton Â
