The Short Story: The Rams were defeated 6-1 by No. 48 Loyola Marymount on Friday afternoon in California.
 
Quote From Coach Kutrovsky: "I was hoping for an improvement in doubles, but we played a good team and they didn't allow us much room. We still have a lot to improve on the doubles court, now that we have two outdoor matches we have more real info on what we need to do. Singles was definitely better, and it was good to finally have Alfred in the lineup. We're heading home with some outdoor experience and looking ahead to next weekend at home and continuing the process one day at a time."
 
Doubles

• VCU fell on Courts 1 and 2 as Nicolo Consonni and Gevorg Mnatsakanyan were defeated 6-3 on Court 1, while Alfred Almasi and Erwann Bouchet fell 6-2 on Court 2 as LMU secured the doubles point.
• Leon Zaorski and Kostiantyn Mantach started well on Court 3 before play was halted once the doubles point had been decided. The VCU pair led 3-2 and 4-3 before trailing 4-5 when the match was left unfinished.

Singles

• VCU's lone point of the afternoon came from Gevorg Mnatsakanyan on Court 3. Mnatsakanyan earned a straight-set victory with identical 6-4 scores. The opening set featured back-and-forth play as Mnatsakanyan went from a 2-1 lead to a 3-2 deficit before winning four of the next five games to take the set, 6-4. In the second set, Mnatsakanyan again built a 2-1 advantage and held off LMU's Emil Kindhult down the stretch, taking the set 6-4 to close out the match. With the win, Mnatsakanyan improves to 7-4 on the season.
• Erwann Bouchet and Alfred Almasi each opened their matches strongly, both claiming the first set on their respective courts. Bouchet took the opener 6-1 on Court 2, while Almasi earned a 6-3 first-set victory on Court 4. However despite the strong starts, both matches ultimately swung the other direction as Bouchet and Almasi were defeated in three sets.
