Richmond, Va. - VCU Men's Tennis Head Coach Dimi Kutrovsky has announced the signing of Taisei Hata.

Hata joins the Rams from Soka-shi, Japan, where he posted a strong series of results on the ITF Junior Tour in 2025. In singles, he finished as runner-up at the J100 Guatemala tournament and reached the semifinals at J100 Wuhan. In doubles, Hata captured the title at J100 Guatemala while also recording runner-up finishes at J200 Monterrey, J100 Guatemala, and J100 Wuhan. He added another deep run with a semifinal appearance at J300 Kuching.

He will bring toughness and a great perspective to the group as well as great tennis experience and achievements. I'm looking forward to helping him in his collegiate and tennis journey."

Hata will join the Rams for the 2026-27 season.
