The Short Story: Despite having chances to claim the win, the Rams dropped a 4-1 decision to No. 25 Cornell on Saturday afternoon.

Quote from Coach Kutrovsky: "Doubles felt like Christmas Day, too many gifts for the other team, it's difficult to win a set to 6 when you do that early in the match. We bounced back well in singles and we put ourselves in a position to take it all the way but ultimately fell a bit short. Overall, positive in singles and we have some more work in doubles. Looking forward to tomorrow and to see if we can make the necessary adjustments."

Opening Serve
- Today's match marked the ninth meeting since 2011 between VCU and Cornell. In the previous eight contests, the Rams claimed three victories while falling five times.
- The Rams entered today's match seeking to snap a three-match slide, while No. 25 Cornell came in off back-to-back wins over Tulsa and Penn. The match was competitive across all courts and swung in either team's favor at different stages, but Cornell proved to be the steadier side in key moments.
Doubles
- Doubles play opened on Court 2 where Nicolo Consonni and Gevorg Mnatsakanyan fell 6-2 to the No. 72 ranked pair of Rethin Pranav Senthil Kumar and Rushil Khosla. Over on Court 1, Mats Bredschneijder and Erwann Bouchet competed point-for-point early before dropping a 6-3 decision to the 51st-ranked duo of Eric Verdes and Rodrigo Fernandes.Â
Singles
- Singles play began on Court 6, where Patrik Petera fell 6-4, 6-3. Petera kept the opening set tight, leveling the score at 3-3 and later 4-4 before Cornell's Adam Sharma closed it out. In the second set, Petera was even at 1-1 early, but Sharma pulled away to secure the straight-sets win.
- On Court 4, Gevorg Mnatsakanyan earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 comeback victory over Cornell's Felipe Pinzon. After dropping the opening set, 6-3, Mnatsakanyan flipped the momentum in the second, breaking a 2-2 tie to build a 4-2 lead before closing it out, 6-3. The third set followed a similar pattern, as Mnatsakanyan once again turned a 2-2 deadlock into a 5-2 advantage and finished the match, 6-2. Pinzon could not match Mnatsakanyan down the stretch, as Mnatsakanyan proved more determined, composed, and relentless to secure the three-set win.
- On Court 1, Mats Bredschneijder was edged in two tightly contested sets, both decided by tiebreaks, against No. 63 Rodrigo Fernandes. Serving at a high level throughout, Bredschneijder kept Fernandes under pressure as both sets went down to the wire. The opening set remained tight, with the score level at 2-2, 3-3, 5-5, and 6-6 before he fell in the breaker, 7-3. The second unfolded in similar fashion, again featuring deadlocks at 5-5 and 6-6, but once more Bredschneijder came up short in the tiebreak, 7-5.
- On Court 2, Nicolo Consonni dropped a three-set decision to Eric Verdes after taking the opening frame. Consonni turned a 1-1 tie into a 4-1 advantage in the first set before closing it out, 6-2. Verdes responded in the second, breaking open a 2-2 score to claim the set, 6-2. In the third set, Consonni held the advantage at 5-4 after the score was level at 4-4, but Verdes responded to even it at 5-5 before closing strong to earn the 7-5 win.
- Erwann Bouchet and Leon Zaorski were both still in action when play was halted. Bouchet was tied 3-3 in his opening set, while Zaorski had just begun his match and trailed 1-0 at the time play was stopped.
