OPENING SERVE
- Thorne, an All-Atlantic 10 Conference First Team selection last year, stormed back from a 6-3 loss in the first set with dominant, 6-2, 6-1 wins in the second and third to defeat the Tribe's Sia Chaudry Chaudry
- VCU jumped out to an early lead when it secured the doubles point. Mariam Ibrahim and Ericia Kim teamed up for a 6-3 triumph on the No. 2 court, while Sara Alba and Viktoria Lackova earned a win for the Black and Gold on No. 3
