RICHMOND, Va. – VCU junior middle blocker Letizia Galli (Appiano Gentile, Italy) has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Galli led the Rams to a 3-0 week after piling up 16 blocks. The 6-foot junior averaged 1.33 blocks per set for the week and tied a career-high with 11 total blocks, including three solos, in VCU's five-set win at Davidson on Tuesday.

She also provided 3.00 kills per set to the Rams' cause, while hitting .415. Galli registered double-digit kills in all three matches last week, including VCU's weekend sweep of Rhode Island.

Galli and the Black and Gold will return to action Oct. 16-17, when VCU heads up Route 95 to take on George Mason in a pair of matches.
