THE SHORT STORY
VCU women's soccer dropped Sunday's contest to La Salle, 5-2. Jazmin Jackson and Shiori Shintaku both scored their third goals of the season, but the Explorers' attack overpowered the Rams at home.

PITCH-SIDE
  • Jackson and Shintaku tied Isabelle Franklin for second on the team in goals (3)
  • Freshman forward Monique McEnhimer tallied her team-high 13th point with an assist
  • Bo Price picked up her first point as a Ram, logging an assist on the second goal
  • VCU was outshot 18-12 overall and 7-6 in on-target shots
  • The Rams maintained possession for 53 percent of the match to the Explorers' 47 percent
  • Justyce Hollenbach and Alexis Garcia each scored a brace for La Salle

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • La Salle opened the scoring with a pair of goals off the boot of Hollenbach in the first 20 minutes to take a 2-0 lead
  • VCU cut the deficit in half as McEnhimer made a centering pass from the corner of the penalty box and Shintaku belted it past La Salle's goalkeeper
  • La Salle added to its lead in the 40th minute, but Jackson had a speedy answer coming out of the half with the Rams' second goal in the 47th minute to trail 3-2
  • The Explorers extended their lead with strikes in the 59th and 85th minutes for a 5-2 final score on Sunday
