The short story: VCU used a 17-0 run to pull away from Saint Louis in the fourth quarter and snap a four-game losing streak.
 
OPENING TIP:
  • Patricia Augustin scored a team-high 11 points and added five rebounds
  • Makennah White had eight points and grabbed a team-high 11 boards
  • Katarina Kneživic had 10 points, four rebounds and three assists
  • VCU shot 35.4 percent from the floor and limited Saint Louis to 21.0 percent from the floor and just 12 percent from 3-point range
  • It was VCU's best defensive performance of the season as the previous season-low was 32.1 percent in a win over American
  • The 39 points were the fewest scored by Saint Louis since 2013

HOW IT HAPPENED:
 
  • VCU and Saint Louis went back and forth early with the Billikens leading 4-3 before a 13-4 run gave the Rams a 16-8 lead at the end of the first quarter
  • The 13-4 run was capped by a Knezevic layup with 48 seconds left
  • The Rams held the Billikens to just 2-of-17 shooting in the second quarter and led 24-16 at the half after VCU shot 4-of-11
  • VCU shot 41 percent in the first half while Saint Louis shot 17.6 percent
  • The Billikens cut VCU's lead to just 31-29 with 1:57 left in the third quarter after a quick 5-0 run by Saint Louis.
  • VCU got the final two baskets of the quarter and took a 35-29 lead into the final 10 minutes of the contest
