- The Rams and Explorers were scoreless through the first six minutes of the game before VCU's Koeneke opened the scoring with 8:59 left in the quarter
- VCU built a 3-0 lead after the first quarter and extended it to 6-0 at halftime. Koeneke scored three of the Rams' six first half goals
- The Rams continued to pull away after halftime, pushing the lead to 11-0 following a goal from Karn with 14:26 left in the fourth quarter
