The short story:Â Damilola Ogbeta shined for VCU, as her first-place performance in the triple jump headlined the Rams' performance in Harrisonburg. The Black and Gold sent athletes to JMU and USF this weekend to compete.Â

JUMPS
- Ogbeta captured first place in the triple jump, shattering her previous personal best with a mark of 12.15 meters. Her performance ties Yvette Simmons for sixth-best in program history and ranks fourth in the Atlantic 10 entering the weekend
- Prissy Mpofu set a new personal best in the triple jump with a mark of 11.78 meters, earning a second-place finish
- Senior Nayome Shipp cleared 1.63 meters in the high jump to earn a fourth-place finishÂ
THROWS
- Desi Akaolisa set a new personal best in the hammer throw with a distance of 38.50 meters to finish ninth
- Junior Anaya Harris threw a personal best of 47.58 meters in the discus to place third. Desi Akaolisa performed well in the event as well, finishing sixth with a mark of 42.67 meters
- Harris and Like Matalatala placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the shot put. Harris recorded a top throw of 12.59 meters, while Matalatala followed closely with 12.58 metersÂ
DISTANCE
- Freshman Madelyn Anderson continued her impressive season, setting a new personal best in the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:48.33. Junior Ava Miller finished shortly behind Anderson, posting a time of 4:51.39
- Shreya Krishnamurthy set a new personal best in the 1500-meter and Jayanna Carroll set a new personal best time in the 800-meter raceÂ
HURDLES
- Sophie Heinold set a new personal best of 15.13 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing 11th in a field of over 25 competitors. She also impressed in the 400-meter hurdles, placing eighth with a time of 1:04.99
Next up
The Rams will next head to Charlottesville, Va. for an in-state meet at the Virginia Challenge, taking place Friday and Saturday, April 18–19.Â
