WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LAUNCHES PLAY4KAY FUNDRAISER

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Basketball is hosting its annual Play4Kay Game on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. against Loyola Chicago.

In an effort to help the fight against breast cancer, VCU and Play4Kay has created a rebounding challenge to donate 10 cents for every rebound by VCU during the month of February. VCU is also hosting an auction with ticket packages for the A-10 Women's Basketball Championship, Play4Kay Gear, a Guest Coaching Experience and a pink VCU game-worn jersey from All-Atlantic 10 Defensive Team member Mykel Parham. The Rams will also be honoring breast cancer survivors and is accepting nominations for survivors to receive four free game tickets.

All proceeds will be donated to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. The mission of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is to raise money for life saving cancer research, underserved programs that provide access to quality cancer healthcare and unite people in the fight against all cancers affecting women.

The mission of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund is to raise money for life saving cancer research, underserved programs that provide access to quality cancer healthcare and unite people in the fight against all cancers affecting women.

1 in 3 women in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime and 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Play4Kay is a national grassroots movement in sports. It was directly the vision of Coach Kay Yow. For Coach Yow it was simple, unite women's basketball in the fight against all cancers affecting women.

Since its inception in 2007, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund has awarded $8.78 million to support scientific research and programs that provide access to quality cancer healthcare for under-resourced women. As part of the Fund's underserved mission, a current focus is to eliminate racial disparities in cancer outcomes.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund fundraises for women's cancer initiatives and partners with the V Foundation for Cancer Research for recommending, reviewing and administering its grants program.
