NYK LEWIS NAMED ATLANTIC 10 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU freshman Nyk Lewis (Washington, D.C.) has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference's Rookie of the Week following an impressive collegiate debut in a pair of contests, the league announced Monday.

In two games last week, the 6-foot-1 point guard averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals per game, while shooting 53 percent (10-of-19) from the floor, including 5-of-13 from 3-point range. Lewis poured in a team-high 19 points in the Rams' Nov. 7 contest against Utah State in Frisco, Texas, and turned in a 10-point, five-assist, five-rebound effort in VCU's season-opening victory over Wagner on Nov. 3.

Lewis became just the fifth true freshman to start a season-opener for VCU since 2009, and he's the Rams' first true freshman to record a double-digit scoring night in his collegiate debut since Terry Larrier in 2014.

VCU (1-1) and Lewis will return to the court on Wednesday, Nov. 12 when they host Saint Peter's at the Stuart C. Siegel Center at 7 p.m.
