Meet: VCU Ram Indoor Invitational

The short story: The Rams kicked off their 2025 Indoor Track and Field season at their one designated home meet of the year. The women had seven performers earn top three finishes in their respective events, with
Eryn Byrd garnering the sole first place finish for the Black and Gold in the weight throw.
SPRINTS/HURDLES:
- In the 60-meter Hurdles, the Rams had two runners earn top three performances, with Myzhane Solomon (8.86) finishing second and Indira O'Neil (9.01) finishing third. O'Neil recorded a new personal best time for the 60 meter hurdles
- The Black and Gold turned in multiple noteworthy performances in the 300-meter race, as Kayelyn Tate (40.53) earned second place and Lauryn Taylor (40.74) finished fourth
- Jaliyah Person (1:17.35) finished fourth and was the top finisher for the Rams in the 500-meter race. Fellow Ram Jordyn Evans (1:18.83) was on her heels with a fifth-place finish
DISTANCE:
- Two Rams notched top five performances in the 1000-meter race, as Nia Warren (2:55.54) finished fourth and Madelyn Anderson (3:05.44) earned fifth. Warren's time of 2:55.54 marks the best of her collegiate career
- One of the Rams' best performances of the day came from junior Ava Miller (10:31.49), who finished second out of 33 runners in the 3000-meter race
RELAYS:
JUMPS:
- Nayome Shipp (1.60m) earned second place in the high jump, with teammates Mariah Washington (1.60m) and Jaliah Channer (1.60m) finishing in fifth and sixth, respectively
THROWS:
- Eryn Byrd brought home the sole first place finish for the Rams in the weight throw, as she recorded a throw of 18.58m, 2.03m further than the next closest competitor. Redshirt sophomore Desi Akaolisha (15.90m) earned third place for the Rams

The Rams next travel to Blacksburg, Va. to compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational from Friday, Jan. 17 to Saturday, Jan. 18.
