The Short Story: VCU's Maggie Goodwin converted a penalty corner to tie the game at 2-2 force overtime with less than two minutes in regulation. Skyler Padgett then scored the game-winning goal just over a minute into the first period.

• App State controlled the opening quarter, outshooting VCU 5-0, but the teams were tied 0-0 at the end of the quarter
• VCU opened the scoring in the 26^th minute as Fehr scored following a penalty corner and on an assist from Afanso
• App State tied the game 1-1 in the 38^th minute on a goal from Donovan
• The Mountaineers took the lead at 2-1 in the 45^th minute after scoring a penalty stroke goal
• VCU forced overtime after Goodwin converted a penalty corner with just 1:46 left in the fourth quarter
• The Rams struck early in overtime after Radel carried the ball upfield and fed Padgett who scored from just inside the top of the circle
