LEADING OFF
- Senior infielder Brandon Eike led the VCU offense, going 3-for-5
- VCU junior infielder Casey Kleinman and Thilges each went 1-for-3. Thilges' homer was his second of the season, while Weisner's was his fourth
- Redshirt freshman Devan Zirwas, senior infielder Will Bean, and Eike each punched an RBI double for the Black and Gold
THE STRETCH
- VCU tied the game at 3-3 in the second inning on Bean's RBI double to center. Earlier in the inning, Thilges and Weisner hit solo homers
- Eike ripped an RBI double in the fifth to bring home freshman Chris McHugh. The Monarchs held a 7-4 lead after five frames of play
- Old Dominion scored seven more runs over the next three innings to take a comfortable 14-4 lead going into the bottom of the ninth
- Zirwas hit a pinch-hit RBI double to left center to spark a four-run VCU ninth
