LEADING OFF
- Hill (2-for-3) and Eike (2-for-4) recorded two hits each for the Black and Gold
- Cosentino (2-0) hurled four innings of shutout relief for VCU on the way to his second win of the week. He allowed just one base hit
- Sophomore second baseman Griffin Boone walked three times and scored a pair of runs for the Rams

THE STRETCH
- Hill broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of fifth when he laced a one-out single into right field to score Boone from second base
- The Rams added an insurance run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by pinch hitter Devon Zirwas and broke the game open with a four-run eighth inning, punctuated an Eike two-run single and a Hill sacrifice fly
- The Rams drew nine walks in the game
- Four VCU pitchers combined to hold the Wildcats to just three base hits. Sophomore righty Zach Peters started for the Rams and threw 3.2 shutout innings before giving way to Cosentino. Peters surrendered one hit and struck out three
