The Short Story: The Rams overcame losing the doubles point and played neck-and-neck with the Hurricanes to climb back, with sophomore Romain Gales clinching the win for VCU.

Opening Serve

  • Gales' come-from-behind win came on court three. It is his eighth victory overall on the season and sixth straight
  • Following doubles, juniors Mathis Bondaz and Oscar Pinto Sansano both won their matches in two sets to give the Rams a 2-1 lead. Bondaz remained undefeated while Sansano snapped a two-game skid in singles
  • After VCU fell behind 3-2, junior German Samofalov notched his first win in singles to tie the match, in a competitive victory to set up Gales for the clinch.
