HOUSTON, Texas – The Houston Dash of the National Women's Soccer League have signed former VCU Women's Soccer standout Susanna Friedrichs to a National Team Replacement Player (NTRP) contract.
 
Friedrichs most recently played in Iceland's top division for UMF Selfoss where she has made 20 appearances and 19 starts. Prior to playing for UMF Selfoss, she played one season in the Czech Republic for FC Slovacko. She becomes the first Ram alum to sign an NWSL contract since Lauryn Hutchinson was named to the Dash's preseason roster in 2015.
 
A former VCU standout, Friedrichs earned All-Atlantic 10 First Team honors as a senior in 2019. She appeared in 76 games with 72 starts over four seasons, scoring nine goals and adding eight assists.
 
Friedrichs is available for immediate selection for the Dash, beginning with their upcoming 2023 UKG NWSL Challenge Cup match against Kansas City Current on Saturday, July 22 at Children's Mercy Park pending ITC receipt.
 
The NTRP contract allows NWSL teams to sign players to their active roster during international windows and tournaments. The 2023 Women's World Cup began last week in Australia and New Zealand and is set to run through the final on August 20.
