ODOM NAMES FOUR TO VCU BASKETBALL STAFF

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Men's Basketball Coach Ryan Odom officially announced the addition of assistant coaches Bryce Crawford, Matt Henry and Darius Theus, as well as Director of Operations Kelsey Knoche, on Wednesday.

Crawford, Henry and Knoche were all members of Odom's staff at Utah State the past two seasons, where they helped the Aggies to an NCAA Tournament berth in 2022-23, as well as an NIT appearance in 2021-22. Crawford and Henry also worked with Odom at UMBC. Theus, who has twice previously worked at VCU, played for the Rams from 2009-13.

An Ohio native, Crawford also worked on Odom's staff at Lenoir-Rhyne in 2015-16 before spending five seasons with him at UMBC. Crawford worked extensively with Utah State's guards during his tenure, and was instrumental in the development of 2023 All-Mountain West Conference First Team selection Steven Ashworth. Crawford also helped UMBC to an upset of top-seeded Virginia in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Tournament, the first win ever by a No. 16 seed over a No. 1 seed. Crawford graduated from Ohio State in 2011 and later served as graduate manager at Charlotte for two seasons (2011-13), as well as assistant video coordinator at Texas from 2013-15.

Henry has been a member of Odom's staff for five years, including three at UMBC and the past two with Utah State, prior to VCU. Henry's efforts with Utah State's wings helped a pair of Aggies claim All-Mountain West honors in 2021-22. He also helped UMBC secure an America East regular season championship in 2020-21. Henry previously served as an assistant at St. Peter's for five seasons, where the Peacocks claimed a CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) title in 2017.

The Alexandria, Va. native's career has also included stops a Georgetown, as director of operations, and as an assistant at his alma mater, Trinity University in Texas.

Theus is no stranger to VCU fans. The former Rams' standout joins Odom's coaching staff following one season as an assistant coach at Siena. Theus has previously served as VCU's director of player development from 2018-21, as well as director of student-athlete development during the 2016-17 season. Theus worked as director of player development at Texas in 2017-18 for Shaka Smart.

A member of VCU's historic 2011 Final Four squad, Theus led the Rams to three NCAA Tournament appearances in all during his playing career. He was also named the Most Valuable Player of the 2012 CAA Championship after leading the Rams to a title game win over Drexel. He ranks third in program history in steals (237) and eighth in assists (462). He later played professionally in The Netherlands and Germany.

Knoche served as director of operations and external relations for Odom the past two seasons at Utah State. Prior to her tenure in Logan, Knoche was an assistant coordinator with Maryland's men's basketball program from 2015-21, where she assisted in basketball-specific fundraising, alumni relations and team travel. She also organized recruiting campus visits and handled staff recruiting travel.

A Fairfax, Va. native, Knoche also served as a student operations assistant for Maryland during her time as an undergraduate at the school.
