SLOW START DOOMS RAMS AGAINST LOYOLA CHICAGO

Location: Richmond, Va. (Stuart C. Siegel Center)
Records: VCU 11-9 (8-2 Atlantic 10), Loyola Chicago 10-11 (8-2)

The short story: Senior middle blocker Jasmine Knight turned in a nine-kill, four-block effort, but it wasn't enough to lift VCU Friday night at the Siegel Center.

OPENING VOLLEY
  • Knight, the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Week, hit .300 on 20 attempts and added seven digs for the Black and Gold
  • Freshman libero Anja Kujundzic provided 16 digs from the back row for VCU
  • Freshman outside hitter Sydney Houchens added seven kills and a block for the Rams
  • Taylor Venuto hit .769 with 11 kills to lead the Loyola Chicago attack
THE DIFFERENCE
  • The Ramblers jumped out to big leads in both the first and second sets. They did not trail in the match until the third set
  • Loyola hit .280, while holding the Rams to a .043 mark
  • The Ramblers also registered nine blocks and owned a 65-44 advantage in digs
NOTABLE
  • VCU and Loyola are now tied for second place in the A-10 standings at 8-2
  • With four blocks Friday, Knight moved into a tie with Gina Tuzzolo for fifth on the school's all-time list with 383. She needs two more to move past Ivana Rich and into fourth
