The short story: VCU loaded up on blocks and hit a season-high .339 as it steamrolled Rhode Island Saturday night.
 
OPENING VOLLEY
  • Junior opposite Parker Hartzell racked up a match-high 12 kills and hit .407 for the Black and Gold. She added five blocks on the night
  • Junior outside hitter Kialah Jefferson added 11 kills and nine digs for VCU. She hit .526 on the night and committed just one error in 19 swings
  • Senior middle blocker Jasmine Knight was dominant at the net again Saturday. She totaled nine kills and hit .533 on 15 attempts. She also contributed five blocks to the VCU effort
  • Additionally, VCU graduate setter AnnaBelle Tomei dished out 26 assists, while freshman libero Anja Kujundzic was credited with 16 digs, five assists and a pair of service aces
  • Madi Disu led Rhody with 10 kills
THE DIFFERENCE
  • VCU dominated the match across the board. The Black and Gold hit .339 and committed just 10 hitting errors in the contest. Rhode Island, meanwhile, hit just .136
  • The Black and Gold recorded 10 blocks, while Rhody registered two
  • Four Rams hit better than .400 in the match. All four recorded 15 or more attempts
NOTABLE
  • VCU improved to 7-1 in league play and maintained its hold on second place in the A-10 standings
  • The Black and Gold have won 11 straight against Rhode Island, a streak that dates back to 2017. VCU is 15-3 all-time in the series
