TE-BIASU'S 30 POINTS NOT ENOUGH TO OVERCOME SECOND HALF DEFICIT

Final Score: Davidson 71, VCU 60
Location: Richmond, Va. (Stuart C. Siegel Center)
Records: VCU 5-12 (2-3 Atlantic 10), Davidson 9-9 (2-2 Atlantic 10)

The Short Story:  Sarah Te-Biasu became VCU's first 30-point scorer since 2012 but it wasn't enough to overcome a third quarter deficit and Davidson's balanced attack.

OPENING TIP:
  • Te-Biasu's career-high 30 points came on 10-of-16 shooting from the field, including 5-of-8 on 3-pointers. She made a career-high 10 field goals
  • The last Ram to score 30 points in a game was Jessica Pellechio who scored 30 points against UMKC on Nov. 20, 2012
  • Samantha Robinson was the only other Ram in double figures as she scored 11 points, going 4-of-6 from the field
  • Senior forward Mykel Parham contributed six points on 2-of-4 shooting
  • Redshirt senior Janika Griffith-Wallace led the Rams in both rebounds with six and steals with four
  • Davidson shot 54.9 percent from the floor to VCU's 39.6 percent
  • The Wildcats outrebounded the Rams 34-24 for the game
  • Davidson was led by the trio of Issy Morgan, Elle Sutphin, and Suzi-Rose Deegan who put up 18, 16, and 13 points respectively
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The opening half of play was a back-and-forth affair, with neither team gaining a lead bigger than four points. The half featured seven lead changes and eight ties
  • The game turned in Davidson's favor during a 3:06 time span early in the third period when the Wildcats went on a 10-0 run that started at the 9:05 mark
  • Davidson built its lead to as large as 55-40 late in the third quarter before a Te-Biasu 3-pointer jumpstarted a VCU run
  • The Black and Gold went on a 9-0 run of their own spanning the end of the third period and the beginning of the fourth period
  • Te-Biasu accounted for all nine points in the rally, all on 3-pointers, with the last one coming at the 8:37 mark
  • The run cut the deficit to just 55-49 but the Rams were unable to get closer for the remainder of the contest
