The short story: Six players scored in double figures and VCU forced 22 turnovers on the way to a decisive road win Tuesday at Loyola Chicago.
 
OPENING TIP

• Sophomore forward Jalen DeLoach led VCU with 16 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots. He connected on 5-of-8 attempts from the field
• Junior guard Ace Baldwin Jr. added 13 points and eight assists, while graduate forward Brandon Johns Jr., sophomore guard Jayden Nunn and redshirt sophomore guard Jamir Watkins added 10 points apiece for the Black and Gold
• VCU senior forward David Shriver connected on all four of his field goal attempts, including all three of his 3-point tries and finish with 12 points
• Tom Welch led the Ramblers with 16 points 

THE DIFFERENCE

• VCU turned Loyola over 22 times and outscored the Ramblers 31-10 off turnover opportunities
• The Rams shot .571 (24-of-42) from the floor, including 4-of-8 from beyond the 3-point arc
• VCU also made 36 trips to the free throw line and connected on 26
• The Rams led 35-32 at the break, but put the Ramblers in their rearview mirror for good with a 24-4 blitz over an eight-minute span early in the second half that gave VCU a 59-39 lead with 10:39 left. Shriver helped key the run with seven straight points, including a four-point play
