The short story: Junior Jasmine Knight totaled 10 kills and hit .750 as VCU coasted past UAlbany Friday at the Kristen Dickmann Invitational at the Naval Academy.
 
OPENING VOLLEY

• Knight continued her torrid start to the 2022 season by converting 10 of her 12 hitting attempts. She made just one error and added five blocks on the defensive end
• Senior outside hitter Qairo Bentley produced eight kills in 18 error-free attacks and kicked in four digs for the Rams
• Junior middle blocker Sarah Stratton blasted four kills in four attempts in the opening frame for the Black and Gold and finished with five kills and four blocks. She hit .500 overall
• Sophomore setter Taylor Aguano also provided 15 assists, five digs, two aces and a block for VCU
• Shynelle Woroniuk led UAlbany with 12 kills 

THE DIFFERENCE

• UAlbany could do little to slow the VCU attack. The Rams hit .295 in the match, including .444 in a second set alone. The Greyhounds hit just .071 in the contest
• VCU never trailed in the first set on the way to a 1-0 lead. Stratton ripped a pair of kills and contributed a solo block to spark a 7-0 burst that gave the Rams an insurmountable 20-13 advantage on the way to a 25-19 victory
• The Rams racked up 11 blocks in just three sets. In addition to Knight (5) and Stratton (4), VCU received four blocks from sophomore outside hitter Parker Hartzell and three from graduate outside hitter Jovana Vukcevic

• VCU has won two straight matches
• The Rams are averaging 2.71 blocks per set at the Kristen Dickmann Invitational
