Natalia Santangelo tapped in a rebound in the 35th minute which proved to be the game winning goal in VCU's first win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- VCU had early opportunities after the 12 minute mark when junior forward Milicia Bulatovic fired a shot wide followed soon after by Sarvers shot
- After a throw-in by The Tribe, Maughan came in possession of the ball and played it through to Sarver who shot the ball on net from the right. The effort was initially saved by Doughty but fell onto the feet of Santangelo who had an open net to score
- The Rams had another great look in the 56th minute when a corner kick led to a shot on goal by graduate student defender Amber DiOrio but her effort was also saved
- Maughan forced another save by Doughty when her shot attempt almost caught her off the line, pushing it over the crossbar in the 75th minute
- The Rams defense shutdown The Tribes attack in the final 15 minutes to preserve the victory
