MEN'S TENNIS INKS SAM BAUMGARTNER

Richmond, Va. - VCU Men's Tennis signed Sam Baumgartner to a National Letter of Intent Head Coach Anthony Rossi announced Wednesday.

Baumgartner a native of Montreux, Switzerland, has reached a career high ITF Junior ranking of 135. He will arrive on campus for the Fall 2022 season.

Baumgartner joins the Rams after an impressive junior career, reaching the semi finals of the Swiss championships five times. He has also earned an ITF tournament victory in singles and has claimed three championships in Doubles.

"I chose VCU because the team is motivated and most of them speak French, which comforts me a little. I have a friend joining the team, so I think that will make the transition easier as well. Coach Rossi and the team have the same motives as myself and are looking for something serious and professional. I chose VCU to become the best version of myself, push my team and to help each player evolve and grow." Baumgartner said, when asked why he chose VCU.
