The short story: Senior catcher
Jacob Selden homered and drove in four runs to lead a 14-hit VCU attack Sunday as the Rams completed a three-game sweep of Dayton.

FIRST PITCH
- Selden finished the day 3-for-3 at the plate. He also doubled, walked and scored a pair of runs
- Sophomore second baseman Marcus O'Malley and junior left fielder Cooper Benzin each recorded a pair of hits and scored three times for the Black and Gold
- Sophomore designated hitter Will Carlone homered for the second straight day for VCU, a solo shot in the top of the eighth inning
- Junior lefthander Maddison Furman tossed three scoreless innings to pick up the victory for the Rams. He struck out a pair and did not walk a batter
THE DIFFERENCE
- VCU used 14 hits to build a 9-0 lead. The Rams scored once in the third, three times in the fifth and eighth and two in the sixth
- Selden led off the third with a solo home run, his second of the year, to break a scoreless tie. In the fifth, sophomore first baseman Tyler Locklear capped a three-run VCU frame with a two-run single through the left side of the infield
- Selden ripped a two-run double in the sixth to extend VCU's lead to 6-0
- Furman, junior Evan Chenier and sophomore Mason Delane combined for eight innings of six-hit, scoreless ball for VCU. Chenier struck out four
NOTABLE
- VCU has won each of its past three Atlantic 10 Conference series, and the Rams have won eight of their past 10 overall
- Locklear leads the Rams with 39 RBIs this season
