Mary-Anna Asare and 21 points from
Sarah Te-Biasu but Gardner-Webb used a late 7-0 fourth quarter run to get past the Rams.

- Te-Biasu led all VCU scorers with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc
- Asare recorded career-highs with 14 points and 10 rebounds to get her first career double-double
- Mykel Parham played a season-high 27 minutes on her way to a career-high 10 points, also grabbing five rebounds
- Timaya Lewis-Eutsey made the most of her second career start, scoring six points and recording eight rebounds

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- The Black and Gold started off strong with a 10-2 opening run over the first 5:48 of the game. Gardner-Webb responded with a 12-4 run of their own over the next 4:12 to end the opening quarter in a 14-14 tie
- The Rams got the better of GWU in the second quarter, outscoring the Runnin' Bulldogs 18-13 to take a 32-27 lead into halftime
- Both teams locked down defensively in the third quarter, as the teams shot a combined 6-of-25 over those 10 minutes. VCU held a slim 43-41 lead going into the fourth
- Gardner-Webb went 8-of-12 from the field to VCU's 3-of-12 in the fourth quarter, including a 7-0 run to turn a 50-48 deficit into a 55-50 lead with 3:58 remaining
- The Rams cut the deficit to two points on two separate occasions but were unable to tie or retake the lead for the remainder of the contest
