HOW IT HAPPENED
- Junior defender Natalia Santangelo kicked a pass into the box to Matsuhisa who had her first shot blocked but then her second attempt bounced off a Patriots defender into the back of the net in the 8th minute
- GMU's Sophie Davidson gave the Patriots their first lead of the day after she found a rebound off VCU's goalkeeper in the 65th minute
- GMU's Davidson tacked on another goal for the Patriots in the 69th minute in almost the same fashion as she found a loose ball off the keeper
- The Ram's comeback began in the 80th minute when Maughan scored a goal off a penalty kick after the Patriots committed a handball foul in the box
- VCU was given one final chance in the 89th minute when senior defender Kayla Hodges was fouled and Bagley scored off the free kick to tie the game
