The Short Story: Graduate Students Paola Exposito Diaz-Delgado and Nina Sorkin continue their impressive starts to the season as the Rams improve to 2-1 on the year
 
OPENING SERVE

• VCU took the early lead, securing the doubles point with two convincing victories on courts one and three
• This included a dominant 6-1 win for Sorkin and Freshman Yelizaveta Karlova. The pairing is now 3-0 through the Rams first three matches.
• Sorkin took a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win on court three to claim the first singles point of the match for VCU. She is now 2-0 at the no. 3 position this season.
• Diaz-Delgado defeated 2020-21 All-CAA First Team member Sibel Tanik with a convincing 6-3, 6-2 victory on court one to give the Rams a 3-0 point advantage
• Karlova utilized a dominant second set to finish with a 6-4, 6-0 win on court two that clinched the match for the Rams
• Freshman Anja Draskovic continued her impressive start to the season with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on court five. Draskovic won 4 straight games in the second set to claim the win.
• Senior Shivani Manjanna fell behind early but fought back to secure the seventh and final point for the rams with a 10-7 super tie-breaker victory in the final set
