The Short Story: VCU started off their first match of the spring season strong by securing the doubles point but Furman held strong in singles play to eventually clinch the match
OPENING SERVE
- The doubles pairing of Grad Student Nina Sorkin and Freshman Yelizaveta Karlova earned a 6-4 victory on court three to open the match for the Rams
- VCU would take the doubles point as the pairing of Junior Gabriela Davidescu and Senior Shivani Manjanna notched a hard fought 7-5 victory on court one
- Sorkin put together a comeback victory winning two straight contested sets after losing the first. This included winning three straight games in the third on her way to a 7-5 set win that clinched the lone singles point for the Rams
- Freshman Anja Draskovic battled no. 65 ranked Sara Snyder to a tie-break in the second set
- Furman led by no. 45 ranked Julia Adams would take the other 5 singles points and the match
