The short story: Senior center back Lana Golob scored on a corner kick in the 49th minute as the Rams picked up their second straight win in Atlantic 10 play.

QUICK FACTS
  • The victory marks the 100th career win as a head coach for Lindsey Martin.
  • Golob, who also scored in Slovenia's 4-0 win over Estonia in World Cup qualifying last week, notched her first goal of the season and fifth of her career.
  • Redshirt senior goalkeeper Grace Young made a season-high six saves, all in the second half, to record her third clean sheet of the season.
  • VCU controlled possession for the majority of the game, outshooting St. Bonaventure by a 20-12 margin.
  • Redshirt senior forward Samantha Jerabek registered a game-high six total shots, including four shots on goal.
  • After two conference matches, VCU is joined at the top of the A-10 standings by Massachusetts, Richmond, and Rhode Island, all with six points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Both teams took some time to settle into the game, but senior forward Aileen Guthrie started a trend of VCU dominance with the first shot on goal of the match in the 17th minute, redirecting a cross on frame.
  • Three minutes later, Guthrie forced a diving save by ripping a shot from 15 yards out.
  • Jerabek cut in on her right foot in the 28th minute, firing a shot that tested Bonnies goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger at the near post.
  • VCU broke through with the match's lone goal in the 49th minute. Jerabek delivered an in-swinging corner kick to the near post, and as the ball bounced off the woodwork and out to the top of the six-yard box, Golob pounced on the opportunity and slotted the ball into the back of the net.
  • As the Bonnies pushed for an equalizer, Young stood tall in the VCU goal. In the 57th minute, she dove to stop a point-blank shot in a flurry of SBU scoring chances.
  • In the 65th minute, graduate forward Bri Kropinack ran onto a cross from the wing and volleyed a powerful shot on net to force a save.
  • Four minutes later, sophomore forward Ella Higgins took a dangerous shot from the right wing that sailed just over the bar.
  • In the 72nd minute, Young got up to punch a long-range Bonnies effort over the bar. She got vertical again in the 83rd minute, throwing a hand up to block a hard shot from the corner of the box at the near post and keep SBU off the scoreboard.
