The short story: Sophomore middle blocker Jasmine Knight led a balanced VCU attack with 10 kills as the Rams swept past James Madison Saturday in Harrisonburg, Va.
 
OPENING VOLLEY
  • Knight hit .643 in 14 attempts, a performance which underscored VCU's offensive dominance on the afternoon. She added five blocks for the Black and Gold
  • Juniors Qairo Bentley and Sabria Cooper chipped in with nine kills each. Bentley also contributed seven digs, three blocks and a pair of aces. Cooper hit .562
  • Freshman opposite Parker Hartzell also supplied five kills and five blocks for the Rams
  • Julia De Sa paced the Dukes with a match-high 13 kills
THE DIFFERENCE
  • VCU hit .370 in the match. The Rams committed just three hitting errors total in the first two sets. The Rams hit .538 in the second frame alone
  • VCU owned a 10-3 edge in blocks and served up six aces
  • JMU looked to fight its way back into the match in the third, when a kill by Savanah Cockrill briefly gave the Dukes a 24-23 lead. Then Knight took over for VCU. The Phoenix, Ariz. native sandwiched a pair of kills around a solo block as she clinched the match with a personal 3-0 run
NOTABLE
  • Saturday's effort marked the 10th time in 20 career matches Knight has recorded at least five blocks
  • VCU Head Coach Jody Rogers moved within six wins of VCU's career mark
  • VCU setters Dani Jo David and Corinna Jones combined to hand out 38 assists
