VCU ADDS MYKEL PARHAM

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Basketball Head Coach Beth O'Boyle has announced the addition of Mykel Parham to the program.

Parham, a native of Burnsville, Minn., joins VCU after spending the past two seasons at Creighton University. Parham, a 6-foot-2 forward, started and played in 17 contests for the Blue Jays last season. Parham averaged 1.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while playing 12.4 minutes per contest. Overall, Parham played in 47 games for Creighton during her two seasons. She averaged 1.6 points and 2.9 rebounds as a freshman in 30 total appearances.

"We are so excited to welcome Mykel to Ram Nation. Mykel brings a high level of competitiveness and a versatile skill set to our team. She is a tremendous athlete who can impact the game on both sides of the floor. Mykel can score facing up and in the post and  is extremely active defensively while being a dominating rebounder. Mykel is a great addition to our program," O'Boyle said.

Parham attended Apple Valley High School where she was a two-time All-South Suburban Conference choice and was named All-State Honorable Mention. Parham served as team captain and during her senior season had 150 blocks along with 251 rebounds. Parham played AAU basketball for North Tartan in the EYBL.
