FIRST PITCH
- Henson singled four times and scored three times for the Rams
- Carpenter reached base four times and finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs
- Sophomore second baseman Michael Haydak recorded a 2-for-3 day at the plate and drove in three VCU runs
- Freshman shortstop Connor Hujsak homered and registered a 2-for-4 night at the plate for the Black and Gold
- Freshman lefty Andrew Ward, one of eight VCU pitchers to take the mount, recorded his second win of the season with an inning of scoreless relief
THE DIFFERENCE
- Six VCU players were credited with multiple hits as the Rams legged out 17 base hits in the contest. The Rams also drew 11 walks and were hit by pitch twice
- The Rams blew open a 4-4 game with one run in the fifth and six in the sixth. RBI base hits by Carpenter and Henson spurred the Rams in the sixth
- VCU's bullpen held VMI to just four hits after the fourth inning. The Rams combined to strike out 11 Keydets in the contest

- VCU has won a season-high seven straight games
- The Rams improved to 4-0 against VMI in 2021. VCU has outscored the Keydets 60-22 in those contests
