- Isabella Evans-Riester opened the scoring just 56 seconds into the first half before the Wildcats scored four of the next five goals to lead 4-2 with 18:20 left in the half
- VCU responded by scoring two of the next three goals to get within 5-4 after Savannah Slack's goal with 12:31 left in the half
- Davidson then went on a 5-0 scoring run to lead 11-4 at the half
- VCU scored three of the first four goals in the second half to get back within 12-7 on a goal from McTavish with 22:46 left
- The Rams got no closer for the remainder of the contest
