Tyler Locklear homered for the fourth straight game, a grand slam in the second inning, but 18
th-ranked Virginia Tech rallied for a walk-off win over the Rams Tuesday.

FIRST PITCH
- Locklear finished 1-for-3 with four RBIs and a pair of runs. He reached base three times Tuesday
- Junior first baseman Steven Carpenter recorded a 3-for-4 day at the plate and drove in two runs for VCU, while junior catcher Hunter Vay doubled and scored twice
- Rams' junior designated hitter Liam Hibbits collected three hits, including a double, to push his average at the plate to .438 this season
- Sophomore right-hander Danny Watson scattered four hits and an earned run in three innings out of the bullpen for the Black and Gold. He whiffed three batters
THE DIFFERENCE
- VCU owned a 9-6 lead at one point, but Tech picked up one run in the fourth and two in the sixth to tie the game. The Hokies' Kevin Madden singled home Gavin Cross with one out in the bottom of the ninth to walk Virginia Tech off with a win
- Locklear, the reigning Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week, launched the second pitch he saw from Virginia Tech reliever Xander Hamilton in the second inning over the centerfield fence. At the time, it staked VCU to a 5-0 lead
- The Rams extended their lead to 9-6 on a two-run single by Carpenter in the top half of the fourth inning
- The Hokies stroked 15 hits and drew eight walks in the game
