The Short Story: Freshmen middles Lauren King and Jasmine Knight were two bright spots for the Rams, hitting at .333 and .200 respectively, but their efforts fell short in a 3-0 loss to Dayton on Saturday night.
 
OPENING VOLLEY

• King recorded six kills and one block for the Rams, with four of her kills coming in the opening set
• Knight pitched in five kills of her own and added a block for VCU
• Rams senior outside hitter Paula Neciporuka led all players with 14 digs
• Dayton outside hitter Jamie Peterson led all players with 13 kills and pitched in eight digs

THE DIFFERENCE 

• The Flyers started the match with a 6-1 run highlighted by a Bridget Doherty kill. The Flyers would go on to win the set 25-18
• Late in the second set, VCU led by a score of 20-16 before allowing a 9-2 Dayton run. Doherty set up 3 straight kills for the Flyers before claiming a 2-0 advantage
