RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Soccer will continue its spring campaign on Saturday night when it welcomes No. 8 Virginia to Sports Backers Stadium. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
VCU comes into the match with a 3-1-1 record and sits atop the Atlantic 10 south division standings.
On Tuesday, the Rams were ranked No. 3 in the United Soccer Coaches regional rankings.
VCU's strong start has been headlined by the play of midfielder
Samantha Jerabek. The redshirt-junior is tied for first in the A-10 with five goals on the season. She leads the conference with eight shots on goal.
Sophomore
Anna Bagley has provided a nice compliment for the Rams' offense. Bagley found the back of the net off a header for her second goal of the season against NC State on Sunday.
Virginia enters Saturday's match with a 1-0 record this spring and are coming off a 9-3-1 fall campaign.
The Cavaliers are led by sophomore Diana Ordonez. The All-ACC second team selection led the team with seven goals in the fall.
Junior-forward Alexa Spaanstra also excelled in the early season. Spaanstra was just behind her frontline counterpart netting six goals.
Saturday's game will be the third all-time meeting between the two programs with the Cavaliers leading the series 4-0-1.
