Jasmine Knight's 19 combined kills propelled VCU past Davidson, 3-0 Saturday afternoon at the Siegel Center.
OPENING VOLLEYÂ
- Knight led the team with a .429 hitting percentage
- Sophomore outside hitter Qairo Bentley contributed seven kills and seven digs
- Freshman setter Corinna Jones totaled 33 assists and three aces
- Freshman middle blocker Kylie Loftis headlined the Rams' defensive effort with three total blocks
- Junior libero Alyna Draper led all participants with 18 digs
- Senior outside hitter Paula Neciporuka provided 15 digs and two aces
THE DIFFERENCE
- The Rams stormed out to 5-0 lead in set one behind a pair of Wildcat attack errors and a trio of kills by Cooper, Loftus and Bently. Davidson cut the VCU advantage to three late, but the Rams closed out the opener with a 5-1 run
- Leading 20-19 in the second, VCU finished the set with a 5-2 run and took a commanding 2-0 match lead
- Trailing 12-10 midway through the third set, the Rams went on an 8-1 run that was capped off with an ace by Neciporuka. VCU held an advantage for the remainder of the set, winning 25-20Â
- The Rams outhit the Wildcats .190 to .106 and recorded five aces
