The Short Story: VCU Women's Tennis cruised to a 7-0 sweep of Duquesne Saturday afternoon at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.

OPENING SERVE
  • 116th-ranked senior Paola Diaz-Delgado and graduate Noumea Witmus opened the match with a 6-2 victory on court two
  • Freshman Alessia Ciuca and junior Shivani Manjanna clinched the doubles point for the Rams with a 6-3 win on court three
  • Freshman Lara Van Der Merwe opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-1 straight-set victory on court six. Van Der Merwe is 2-1 in her first collegiate season
  • Diaz-Delgado extended her singles-match win streak to eight with a dominant 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Dukes' sophomore Natasha Novak on court one
  • Sophomore Luminita Tutunaru secured the match victory for VCU with a 6-1, 6-1 straight-set win on court two
  • Witmus, Manjanna and Ciuca wrapped up the day with victories on courts four, five and three, respectively.
