Jasmine Knight racked up 16 kills to power the Rams to a sweep, a victory that placed Head Coach
Jody Rogers atop VCU's all-time wins list. Rogers, in her ninth season at VCU, has 170 wins at the helm, surpassing Wendy Wadsworth.
OPENING VOLLEY
- Knight hit .520 on 25 total attempts and added three digs and a block
- Sophomore setter Corinna Jones came one dig shy of a double-double and finished with 23 assists to help guide the VCU offense
- Junior outside hitter Qairo Bentley fired in 12 kills on 25 attempts, and added nine digs
- Freshman setter Katrina Davis added 20 assists, while sophomore middle Kylie Loftis provided six blocks
- Salem Yohannes led George Washington with 16 kills
THE DIFFERENCE
- VCU erased a 12-1 deficit in the first set when it closed the frame with a 24-8 blitz. Knight supplied four kills and a block in the first to help VCU right the ship. She added seven more kills – on seven swings – in a 25-20 VCU win
- VCU outhit the Colonials .282 to .115. The Rams hit.414 in the third set alone
- Bentley finished the match strong with five kills in the final set, hitting .833 over that span
