Records: VCU 10-10 (6-2 Atlantic 10), Saint Louis 12-8 (5-2)

The short story: VCU hit .347 and the Rams put together perhaps their most complete performance of the season in a 3-0 sweep of Saint Louis, a match for control of second place in the Atlantic 10.

OPENING VOLLEY
  • Sophomore Jasmine Knight led a potent VCU offensive attack with 11 kills, while hitting .455 in 22 swings. She added two blocks
  • Freshman outside hitter Kialah Jefferson pitched in with 11 kills, and was credited with 17 digs for the Rams
  • Graduate outside hitter Jovana Vukcevic also contributed nine kills, while hitting .412 for the Black and Gold, and senior libero Alyna Draper registered 22 digs, an average of more than seven per set
  • Freshman setter Katrina Davis kept the VCU offense humming with 33 assists
  • Maya Taylor led all players with 13 kills for Saint Louis
THE DIFFERENCE
  • VCU controlled both sides of the net. The Rams' back line play continually kept the Billikens at bay and helped VCU produce 59 digs, compared to Saint Louis' 40
  • The Rams recorded just 10 hitting errors in 98 attempts. Saint Louis committed nine errors in the third set alone
  • The Billikens entered the night third in the country in aces, but were held to just three by VCU
NOTABLE
  • VCU's win avenges a 3-2 loss at the hands of the Billikens on Sept. 26 at the Stuart C. Siegel Center
  • With the victory, the Rams moved a half game ahead of Saint Louis for second place in the A-10
NEXT UP
VCU will step out of conference to host American at the Siegel Center on Wednesday, Oct. 20. That match is set to begin at 6 p.m.
