Lauren King provided 10 kills and VCU hit .355 on the way to its second straight sweep to kick off the 2020-21 season.

OPENING VOLLEY
- King hit .526 in the match and did not commit and error in 19 swings
- Sophomore outside hitter Qairo Bentley added seven kills, 12 digs and five blocks to the VCU effort
- On the back row, junior libero Alyna Draper dug 13 balls for the Black and Gold
- VCU's setters, junior Dani Jo David and freshman Corinna Jones, kept the offense humming with 17 assists a piece.
- Alessia Sgherza led all players with 12 kills for Old Dominion
THE DIFFERENCE
- VCU committed just eight errors in the match and hit better than .300 for the second straight day; The Rams hit over .400 in each of the final two sets
- The Rams were dominant across the board. VCU outblocked the Lady Monarchs 7-5, outdug them 47-36 and served up five aces to ODU's two. Old Dominion hit just .150 in the match
- The Rams broke a 14-all tie in the first set when a double-block by Bentley and freshman Jasmine Knight sparked a 6-0 VCU run
NOTABLE
- Old Dominion, a longtime VCU rival in other sports, is playing its first season of Division I volleyball
- VCU is 2-0 for the first time since the 2017 season
- Rams' Head Coach Jody Rogers is 151-71 in eight seasons at VCU and has moved into a tie with James Finley for second in school history in victories. She trails only Wendy Wadsworth, who won 169 matches in the 1980s
