The Short Story: After losing the doubles point, the Rams battled back through their respective singles matches to defeat the Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon. VCU has now won four straight matches dating back to Richmond on January 29.

OPENING SERVE

• Inigo Torre Martin and Rayane Stable were the only duo to come away with a doubles victory as they defeated Juan Lugo and Yusuf Khamis 6-3.
• With the doubles point on the line, the freshman duo of Tomas Balazi and Daniel Khin fought to the very end before dropping the match 7-6(7-5) to Miguel Este and Dimitri Badra.
• Lleyton Cronje got his fourth straight win as the freshman downed Yusuf Khamis 6-4, 6-3.
• Charles Bertimon improved to 4-1 in No. 2 singles, and 5-1 on the season. The sophomore was exceptional only losing one game during his match which he won 6-1, 6-0.
• Timo Zgraggen has won four straight matches after upending Thiago Pernas 6-3, 6-4.
• Inigo Torre Martin capped off the afternoon with a hard fought 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Juan Lugo in No. 3 singles.
